URBAN BITES :: Creators of fine chocolates, petit fours, preserves and nougat

WHAT’S NEW:
It is with much regret that I have decided not to renew my lease at Urban Bites’ Wilston location. At 2pm on Saturday November 22nd, 2008, I will be closing my Urban Bites’ retail location at 83A Kedron Brook Road, Wilston. I know many of our loyal customers will be disappointed, but after 17 years in hospitality, I need time out to re-charge and plan my future goals and directions. There were many reasons I came to this decision including:

v End of 3 year lease and the need to commit to another 3 years
v Expense of total refurbishment of the Urban Bite space
v Committing to a revision of menu and direction of Urban Bites
v Difficulty in finding suitably qualified pastry chefs/shop staff to help share the load
v My overwhelming desire to spend more time with my family

The support and friendship I have received over the past three years has been very humbling. URBAN BITES’ CUSTOMERS have been so wonderful. From day one we have always maintained that we have the BEST CUSTOMERS. Always supportive and appreciative of our products, so many of you have become friends. Saying goodbye will be the hardest aspect of closing my Wilston Store.

I have been so lucky to have had some excellent staff who have taken pride in their job. From the beginning, the wonderful Wendee has provided the bench mark for our team. With an amazing work ethic and excellent customer service skills, Urban Bites shop would not have survived without her. Words are inadequate to express my gratitude to Wendee for her part in Urban Bites’ success. Thank you, Wendee.

Of course, I could not have survived without the help of my wonderful partner and family. David, Sharon, Mum and Dad – Thank you for your support, encouragement and endless help.

PEARL DIVA NEWS:
“With the closing of Urban Bites on the 22/11/08 Pearl Diva will also cease trading. I would like to thank all my customers who over the years have chosen my jewellery, pashminas and gifts. It has been a pleasure meeting so many of you and designing for many of you your own special piece of jewellery.
Thank you to my sister Cass, Wendee and Urban Bites staff and my mother for all their efforts over the years in looking after Pearl Diva and my customers.”

CHRISTMAS AND URBAN BITES/PEARL DIVA
Even though we will be leaving Wilston before Christmas, there is still the opportunity to buy exclusive, hand made or produced gifts for your Christmas gift giving. and stock up on your favourite Urban Bites products. There will be a selection of Christmas goodies available at the shop until the 22/11/08 and then at my commercial kitchen for a short time in December. It will be the last opportunity to buy from our range of Annie’s Treasures (hand knitted scarves – great for winter travelling in Euorope!!) and Lorraine Collins’ exclusive hand felted gifts.

ART WORK FOR THE MONTH OF OCTOBER:
Urban Bites is excited to have Pamela Gough currently displaying until the end of October. A highly respected artist, Pamela’s work on Brisbane has generated an amazing amount of interest. Her limited edition prints and original works of art are gifts of lasting value.

APOLOGIES:
Urban Bites apologies for any inconvenience to artists booked through until the end of 2009. What started as an opportunity for local artists to show their work became such a success that we had to stop taking bookings. Thank you to all the past displaying artists for providing such a diverse range of paintings and creating such interest for our customers.
